Friends of the Lower Calaveras River (FLCR) held their 3rd Steering Committee meeting last week at the new Student Center at UOP. Together, they completed a Ranking Ladder Activity to prioritize their goals. Afterwards, they divided into four sub-committees to work on the following short-term objectives:
-
To improve youth education about the river by involving them in monitoring and other extra-curricular activities.
-
To keep FLCR members engaged by conducting a 1:1 listening campaign.
-
To conduct a survey to inventory community resources and develop an FLCR database.
-
Tp produce media that will educate and stimulate interest in the greater public (brochures, articles, etc.)
Sub-committee will meet independently over the next month to work on their task lists, and will re-convene in early January to check-in and to formulate next steps.
Thanks to all for their hard work!

This website looks like great beginning for a new lower Calaveras River. For over ten years, I have been keeping a census of birds from El Dorado Bridge through Brookside development and the deep water channel. My problem is that I no longer have a printer for my ancient iMac with an ancient language. I do have a zip drive if this material is of interest, I would be happy to share it. Nan

Thanks Nan!
I think the data that you have collected would be a great resource for the public!
If you are interested, we can even post some of it, with you listed as the author, on the website…
Happy New Year!
