Another new year has rolled in and perhaps it’s time to stretch a bit and try something new in 2011.

There are so many outdoors activities for all ages in the great Central Valley. It’s a matter of pushing away from thetelevision, opening the door and making a conscious effort to get outside. Here are some suggestions:

» Join a conservation organization and take part in seminars, workshops, tours and hands-on activities. There are excellent, local non-consumptive groups, including the San Joaquin Audubon Society, Cosumnes River Preserve, Lodi Crane Festival, Galt Winter Bird Festival, Sierra Club and Friends of the Lower Calaveras River, to name but a few.
