Event reels in supporters of river resident

STOCKTON – The Miracle Mile neighborhood continues to find things to celebrate.

Last week, it was the city itself with a “Stockton is Magnificent” street fair. On Sunday, it was a fish that calls the Calaveras River home.

Dozens of curious residents walked along Pacific Avenue for the first Stockton Steelhead Festival.

They were treated to live music, food, arts and crafts, fly-fishing lessons and environmental information.

The point of the festival, according to organizer Jim Marsh, was to remind residents that the fish are there and that the Calaveras River is their habitat.
